Danish regulator grants permit to operator of Nord Stream-2 pipeline

MOSCOW, Oct 1 (PRIME) -- The Danish Energy Agency has granted a permit to Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of Russia’s Nord Stream-2 natural gas pipeline, for operations on the state’s continental shelf on a number of conditions, the regulator said in a statement on Thursday.

“The Danish Energy Agency has granted a permit to Nord Stream 2 AG to operate a section of the Nord Stream 2 pipelines on a number of conditions to ensure a safe operation of the pipelines,” it said.

“Conditions in the construction permit of Nord Stream 2 of October 30, 2019 are maintained to the extent that they have not yet been met or are relevant in connection with operations phase. Commissioning can only take place when at least one of the pipelines has been tested, verified and when relevant conditions in the construction permit and the operations permit have been met.”

The Nord Stream-2 project envisages construction of two lines of a natural gas pipeline with an annual capacity of up to 55 billion cubic meters, running from the Russian shore to Germany under the Baltic Sea. Russian gas giant Gazprom is implementing the project together with Germany’s E.ON and BASF, Royal Dutch Shell, Austria’s OMV, and France’s Engie.
